Analysis by Craig Hemphill

It is customarily and consistently noted that the 5-2 trump fit plays more often better than the 4-3, but all such generalities have exceptions, and here is one, when the declarer has the bottom seven spades for his trump suit and the defenders have the top six!

Still, the defense may falter and allow 2 to make, either by leading trumps, squandering its advantage, or by going passive in another way. To defeat 2, the defense must attack clubs, permitting South to ruff with one of his high honors, thereby promoting an additional trump trick for North's J. In all, the defense takes one diamond, one club, and FOUR trumps!
