Cheating Scandals: A (tiny) Silver Lining?

It was supposedly P.T. Barnum who said "there is no such thing as bad publicity". Whether that is true concerning the game of bridge

remains to be seen but what I can say is more friends have asked me questions regarding bridge in the last few days than ever before.

This includes a couple of friends of my children who have expressed interest in learning how to play bridge!! So though I may be crazy

( or at least too optimistic), I actually believe that the publicity surrounding the cheating scandals will increase the number of bridge players.

After all it was a bridge player (Oscar Wilde) who said "the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about".

Question.....As a related aside.....what are the best books to buy for those who want to learn to play bridge ( and no my

numerous bridge partners....the books are not for me).
