Another hand where you say who's to blame

We are playing a very light version of Precision.

If North opens 1 (16+) and East doubles or overcall at one or two level, South with 0-5 HCP passes; now if West passes North “pretends that the opponents have opened” (so says the book we are following), and North “overcalls” are natural and nonforcing, doubles are takeout (or any 23+ HCP), the book also says.

We are playing Kickback too, where if diamonds are agreed as trump 4 is a KC ask.

I can’t give no further agreements since we never discussed this kind of auction

After the minus two final result North blamed South for mistakenly answering 5 to Kickback. South (that read 4 as a second cuebid asking for further description) blamed North for not bidding a direct number of NT after the overcall, saying that there was no established fit that allowed the use of Kickback since North didn’t made a takeout double or one way or the other didn’t inform South about the diamon fit.
