2012 Cavendish in Monaco

World Bridge Productions (WBP) is proud to announce a partnership with The Monaco Bridge Federation (FMB), and that the next edition of The Cavendish Invitational will take place in Monaco, October 15th - 19th 2012. Provided the 2012 tournament is successful, the plan is to hold this prestigious tournament in Las Vegas in the odd years, and in Monaco in the even years.

The “Monaco Cavendish” will respect the structure of the original “Las Vegas Cavendish”, with a 2-day Teams Tournament (October 15th - 16th), and a 3-day Pairs Tournament (October 17th - 19th). However, there will be some small changes such as a decrease of the minimum auction level (probably 5000 Euros) and an online auction, which will be confirmed later.

The change of the usual May dates is due to the US Open trials at the beginning of May, too many events in Monaco (mainly the Formula 1 races), and the new dates allow The Cavendish to connect with the yearly International Teams Tournament of Monaco (October 12th - 14th).

The FMB and WBP wish to express many thanks to Pierre Zimmermann, who has supported The Cavendish as an enthusiastic player and active bidder. Now, as a FMB partner, he will strongly support the new project, helping the FMB to organize and promote it, so that The Cavendish remains one of the most important bridge events in the world.
